I'm feeling incredibly proud of each and every one of my funny and fantastic stand-up comedy course fledglings who took to the stage in our "New Act Night" at Komedia Brighton last night. The show completely sold out several days in advance and we had the most amazing, delightfully happy, over excited audience of 275 at the show. The atmosphere was incredible. Our "New Act Night" is the only comedy show I've ever experienced with this particular electric, over excited, crazy happy, supportive audience atmosphere. It's always such a special show.
My stand-up comedy course graduate Angela Barnes was back to MC as usual and she was extraordinarily brilliant. Angela's firmly established herself as a fast rising comedic force to be reckoned with since she took her first steps in stand-up comedy in my "New Act Night" show nine years ago. She's become a radio and television regular appearing in shows like "Mock the Week" and "Live at the Apollo" and she's just finished hosting her second series of "Newsjack."
I've had the great pleasure of watching our Angela's progress over the last nine years, and I still remember key moments like her very first gig and when she won the BBC New Comedy Award. It doesn't matter how busy she gets, Angela keeps coming back to her comedy class roots to pass on what she's learnt to my latest batch of fresh comedy fleglings. Whether they're just starting out or they're a firmly established radio and television regular my Komedia Brighton comedy course graduates always make me so proud.
